GUESS WHAT HAPPENED LAST FRIDAY?
I was in a lot of pain. That’s what happened. My affirmation cards I printed out and the lavender in my hospital bag didn’t help like Pinterest said it would…but I digress. I was ready for pain, but mother of pearl. SO GLAD THAT’S OVER. For many reasons. 😉
Reese Goebel was a champ through the whole thing! When it came time to get little baby out, he did ask the nurse where the sheet was. You know, the one that they put up on TV so the dad’s don’t see anything. Haha. The nurses were like, nooope! It was also about this time when I recall telling the doctor to “JUST PULL IT OUT”. But a big nooope to that too. Not sure why he couldn’t do that for me.
FINALLY at 2:39 am our little baby Lad was born! All slimey and beautiful and stuff. 🙂 We didn’t officially decide to name him Lad until the next morning though, because in Reese’s word’s we were not “in a mental state to make that kind of decision”. Which is 1000% true because night-time labor after a full day will take it out of you!
On Monday afternoon we were finally able to make the big drive home! Thankfully my mom is an angel and bought me one of those butt-donut pillows to sit on, because the entire journey home was pretty much construction and OH MY GOSH THOSE ROADS ARE BUMPY & IT’S AWFUL.
So. You know how they say the first night home with a new baby is going to be the roughest? THEY’RE RIGHT. Holy smokes. I think we slept 3 minutes total, give or take. The next night we used this magical contraption that my sister-in-law, Christine, gave us because both of my nieces absolutely loved it. And after nights 2 and 3 when Lad only woke twice to eat I have decided that Jesus Christ himself created this thing. It’s called “The Taco Bed”. Just kidding. It’s the Fisher Price Auto Rock & Play. If you have a baby do yourself a favor and get one of these.
Seriously. Can you Canonize things? Because this thing deserves it. So does my sister-in-law for getting it for us. Click on the image if you want one – trust me here.
I could go on and on for a million years, but it’s almost feeding time and momma gotta get going!
A few highlights from this little guy’s first week:
- He had his first bath! The little guy implemented his own sprinkler system during the bath too when he decided to pee EVERYWHERE. That little thing has some power behind it!
- We’re pretty sure he has the feet and hands of a one-year old. That’s probably why he eats every moment of the day; he’s got to grow into them. 😉
- His pee defies gravity and can somehow come up out of the backside of his diaper.
- He is very patient with our inefficient clothes-changing skills. Thankfully! Haha. I’m all about the diaper-and-socks-only life.
- He had his first trip to go check out a new bull! He was undecided if we should get it or not.
Reese and I are hanging in there just fine! It’s not nearly as bad as I think we had mentally prepared ourselves for. Although, I can see now how challenging it must be when you already have another kid. Now THAT exhausts me.
Oh, and my niece Harper announced she does like Lad – as long as he stays at our house and doesn’t come to hers. Prior to him being born she was really banking on a little girl named Strawberry because she just “loves that name”.
I’ll try to keep up with these…it’s a nice little refresher for my brain. Although they may be more rambly than usual for a while because I JUST HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY.
It’s hard to condense things when you have the cutest baby EVER. 😉
