It’s been a while since I’ve written a post. You know how they say this is the busiest time of year for real estate? Yeah, well they were right. And I’m SO THANKFUL for it. Belieeeve me. But I don’t think I thought it was really going to happen. Oh, and there’s a wedding. I’ve never been in the driver’s seat of planning one of those before and it’s TEE-DEE-OUS. But that’s why they make Prosecco and Leinenkugel’s, right?
But anyways. I’m caffeinated and ready to go. So let’s do the dang thing. **Sidenote: this post has nothing really to do with Real Estate; it’s all about what I LOVE! And that is telling all of my “eager” (paha) friends about BEING HEALTHY! Yippee-ki-yay!**
Let’s start from the very beginning…[Sound of Music will be in my head all day now. Meh.]. If you have ever been around me for more than 5 minutes, you know my tum-tum is THE most sensitive thing. Ever. (Shout-out to my cousin Macy! We got it from our Papa.) Thankfully I’m not one of those people who gets a whiff of peanuts and blows up until I get stabbed in the thigh with an Epi pen. Because I’m sure that sucks A LOT. But it’s sort of a bummer because I find out things don’t set well by eating them. And then feeling miserable. Like doubled-over-in-belly-cramps miserable. And having extreme belly bloat so that my pants don’t even fit miserable.
So what did I do? I fixed it! And life is great.
I still eat crap occasionally. Because tasty. And I don’t always want to be the weird one ordering a salad all the time. Because boring. But you know what? Healthy food tastes good too. And not feeling terrible afterwards is awesome, so there’s some good motivation behind it.
So. To the point of this post. I am a huuuge breakfast person. I will literally dissolve into the atmosphere if I don’t get my morning food. A few days a week I get up at the crack of dawn so that April can whip my (almost married) butt into gear at the gym (Yay Crossfit Red Hornet!). Those mornings I don’t get the opportunity to cook myself a delicious breakfast so I’ve “developed” a smoothie that I can take with me for afterwards. And the best part – it’s low in sugar! Too much sugar and my chin is a breeding ground for pimples. Sorry, that’s really gross sounding, but such is life. There’s also a rash…but we won’t get into that. 😉 Just believe me when I say I need to watch what I eat.
I’ve always attributed bread/carbs to causing pimples, but if you break it down, carbs have sugar. And don’t get me wrong, fruit has good, natural sugars, but you still have to keep your regular consumption at bay. So with this in mind, it was hard to find a smoothie recipe that worked for me and my low-sugar guidelines.
UNTIL THIS GREEN BEAUTY CAME INTO MY LIFE. It’s so delicious. Note: smile.
It’s really easy to make and it has your veggies, protein, fiber, good fats and some sugar too. I make it the night before when I’m cooking supper so it’s ready for me to grab out of the fridge in the morning and roll out.
These are all just general measurements. I don’t really use measuring spoons or cups – you just have to eye it and the more you make it the better you will be at “eyeing” everything.
Also. Carry floss because the green stuff likes to get in your teeth cracks. And that’s embarrassing.
- 1 handful spinach or kale
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
- Small Granny Smith Apple or 1/3 of a Banana
- Drizzle of organic coconut oil
- Scoop of vanilla protein (Whey, or vegetable-based. NO SOY! It’s not great for ladies; too much estrogen a.k.a. mental breakdowns and chin pimples.)
- Small spoonful of Almond Butter (I only do this occasionally.)
- 1/4 – 1/2 large avocado. The more you have the creamier it will be, but you don’t want to eat too much avocado either.
Blend all the goodies up and you’ve got a meal ready to go! I drink this on days I do my hard work-outs. It keeps me full until lunch time (which is a feat in itself)!
Give it a shot before you get turned-off by the baby poop color. It really is good and you can’t event taste the vegetables!
That’s all for to day. I have a lot to say about diet, fitness, and overall health, so hopefully I’ll have more of this. As much as I LOVE my job, writing about real estate isn’t my most favorite thing to do in the world…but if you want to buy or sell a house, you should call me. 🙂
